Building Strong Number Skills Through Hands-On LearningAt Gracey Private School

Learning comes alive through engaging, practical activities that make every lesson exciting and meaningful. Our young learners recently participated in a fun number recognition and counting activity, where they matched numerals with the correct number of counting sticks.

This interactive exercise helped to strengthen their understanding of numbers, improve counting accuracy, develop fine motor skills, and boost their confidence in problem-solving. By learning through play and exploration, our pupils build a solid foundation in numeracy while enjoying every step of the learning process. At Gracey Private School, we believe that every child learns best when they are actively involved, encouraged, and inspired.

Circle Time: Where Every Child Has a Voice

Some of the most meaningful learning moments happen when our children gather together in a simple circle. What may seem like a casual activity is actually a powerful learning experience. During Circle Time, our learners develop essential life skills that will benefit them both in and beyond the classroom.

They learn to: Listen attentively while others are speaking. Wait patiently for their turn. Express their thoughts with confidence. Respect different opinions and ideas. Build meaningful friendships through positive interactions. Circle Time creates a safe and welcoming environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. It encourages communication, critical thinking, emotional awareness, and self-confidence; skills that are just as important as literacy and numeracy.

At Gracey Private School, we are committed to nurturing the whole child. Through engaging, child-centred activities like Circle Time, we help our learners grow into confident, respectful, and compassionate individuals who are prepared for lifelong learning.

Building Strong Numeracy Skills Through Hands-On Learning

At Gracey School, we believe that every great academic journey begins with a strong foundation. Our Early Years learners had an exciting and engaging numeracy session as they explored numbers through interactive, hands-on activities designed to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.

Using colourful number pieces and counting materials, the children enthusiastically matched numbers, counted objects, and strengthened their number recognition skills. Every smile, every correct answer, and every moment of discovery reflected growing confidence and a genuine love for learning.

Learning Continues Beyond the Classroom

At Gracey Private School, learning doesn’t stop when the activity ends. it grows through reflection, discussion, and real-life experiences.

As part of our Exit Point Activity on Weather, our little learners had the opportunity to recall, reflect on, and express what they had learned about different weather conditions. From sunny skies to snowy days, the children enthusiastically shared their observations, demonstrated their understanding, and connected classroom lessons to the world around them.

Learning Through Play: Building Skills for Life

Recently, our learners participated in practical life activities, including simple cloth-hanging exercises. These activities may seem small, but they play a significant role in developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, independence, and responsibility.

Through engaging circle time sessions, children build confidence as they learn to communicate, listen attentively, share ideas, and interact positively with their peers. These experiences help nurture strong social and language skills in a warm and supportive environment.

Creative colour activities also give learners opportunities to explore, imagine, and express themselves while developing colour recognition and visual awareness. Such experiences encourage curiosity and make learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
